I need your opinions out there. I have the choice of trying to fit a Memphis 12" sub (single voice coil)or a Memphis 10" (dual coil)in a box that I know will fit the 10". I would be using a 2 channel amp rated at 1000 W max. Which would be the best overall bet and if I go with the 10" is it best to run both channels on the amp (stereo) or try it mono??

With the amp, I would guess you would be bridging it. Not sure about what you are asking about sub. The 12" will give you more bass and probably sound better but if your box is only good for a 10" then you don't have much choice.

Just looking to get the most boom for what I already have. I am fitting the box behind the seat of a F150 supercrew. Due to the lack of space, I have only so much height and depth. The Memphis 10" fit in the space I have a Sony 10" in already. I'd have to try and fit the 12" with a larger hold and see if it has to much depth. Just wondering if you get a dual 10" to give you as much bass as a single 12".

you dont need that much amp for a memphis sub unless its a dvc but a svc usually depeneding on the type on memphis sub is 500 max 250 rms

a 10" sub will probably be cleaner sound, but the 12" will give more bass. memphis makes some good speakers. in my opinion, and what i hook up in my rides, is a dual 4 ohm voice coil 12" sub (somewhere around 300-500w rms, and 800-1000w max). run the sub parallel with a 800-1000w max 2 ohm stable mono channel amp.

if space is an issue, just use a 10". if space is really tight, get one of those new 1000w pioneer subs that are 3" thick. lol

I went with the 12" dvc. it fit but barely. I had like a 1/4 inch between the magnet and the box. I had to take the rubber surround off to get it in there w/out hitting anything. any idea what is the best cubic foot sealed enclosure would be?

depending on your amp you may not wanna bridge it make sure your amp can handle a 1 ohm load....you'd probably be better of to run it 2 ohm stereo amp would run al lot smoother and not be as much of a strain on it as far as air space on the memphis subs. they recommed that you use about .75 cubic foot per sub

ya i think .75 - 1.0 cubic feet per sub would be good.

i got a .85 cubic foot box in each of my rides and it sounds great.

Just so you know for next time.....

A 12 inch sub does not always = more output. A 10 inch sub does not always = tighter bass. If this was the case, all sound quality guys would be fidgeting with 4 inch speakers trying to get them to reproduce sub-sonic bass frequencies. Obviously.....this isn't happening. If it is.......it's not for a competition like this.

Sound quality is based on the sub itself, the internals, and the install of the sub, along with the amp you use, and the head unit. The head unit being the least effective to most people.

Kicker would not have used a Solo X 18 in their sound quality car if the laws of sound said a smaller cone area = a tighter sound and better sound quality.
