Not to sound like a complete asshole.....but if you want the truck to sound as good as possible, take it to a stereo shop. Being that I work at one....I know what happens when people try to figure this stuff out themselves. Now Im not saying that you are not capable but....I know from experience its better to put these things in the hands of a pro.
Sorry if this sounds bad but this is how i feel.

now...not to sound like an asshole, and this is in no way directed towards you....

I have personally seen some shit come out of a shop that if I owned the shop everyone in there would be fired. A place called Sound Advice in Hattiesburg Mississippi (where I live, its not part of the large hi tech chain store) and they ran my power wire directly over my header. Guess what...It burnt up and ALMOST grounded out.

Car audio isn't some magical gift, it's quite easily actually. The hardest part in a substage is setting the amp up right. Front stage has a little more technique, but it's nothing that some reading couldn't teach you.

In some instances yes, a shop is the way to go, but IMO if it's a basic setup with nothing fancy, do it at home.

well im sure the 12 will give u more bass if thats what u going for, but if ur box will only fit the 10 then ur out of luck. u need the air space for the 12!

there is no truth in saying "the 12's will sound better, than the 10's with more bass" A 12 in a shitty box, sounds 100% worse than a 10 in a good box.

NOONE can suggest ANYTHING AT ALL unless we know the box size, sealed or ported, and what kind of amp you have. 1000 watt max, most amp companies will tell RMS if they are not afraid to tell, others tell max.

The whole SVC and DVC deal.....not true. an SVC sub can take JUST AS MUCH POWER as a DVC sub. The dvc sub just has more "wiring options". More ohm load capabilities.

So, tell us what model sub, what size box, ported or sealed, what amp, and what you want from your setup....THEN we can help you.
