Agree totally with this or find on the floor truck, if you find a good donor you can snag the steering wheel too. Then you won't have to worry about the headache of trying to get something to work right.

My Toyota is an automatic & as you guys know the shifter is on the column, but Ive been told that you cant run a header because the linkage is too close to the factory manifold. Anybody have any ideas on what I can do or try??? I was thinking I could just move it to the floor...but then what model unit Toyota would I get the shifter out of??Post any pics of you guys have them too!!

Definitely 4Runner parts. They are probably right about not running a header on an auto, because mine hugs the tranny pretty tight. Lol. I don't know if they make one for an Auto though, they might.

Thanks for the info guys...Ive got another steering wheel-tilt unit out of another truck & I wanted to go with it. Its out of a 5-speed & I need to make a shifter for the floor. Ill call Toyota Auto Parts (TAP) tomorrow & see what they can put together for
me. Anybody got any other advice then post it

Wait, you have an extra tilt column?

Ive only got the one as of now...it came out of a parts truck that I got a few months back, but Im getting another parts truck soon
& it might have one in it. The unit that is in my truck now is the standard non-tilt. You
know somebody that needs one??

I know someone that needs a tilt column. Lol. Only thing is my ignition is on the column, isn't yours on the dash? I don't even know if the 79-83 ever came with a tilt. But it sure would be nice to be able to see the guages. And have a little leg room.

The ignition is on the column...it sits off the the side alittle, but its still attached to the column itself. Theve got it made so that its part of the dash, but I was thinking
that the 84-88 4-runners had tilt steering in them & they have the key on the side like your does. Dont quote me on that, but its something to look in to.

I'll keep an eye on the junkyards. Its rare we ever get anythign newer than my truck in the yards though, as far as Toyotas go. Theres Mazdas and Rangers out the ass up here for some reason.
