40s or 50s?

i'm running 2 40 series flowmasters on my 5.7 with no cats. its pretty much loud all the time. i believe its 3inch in and 3inch out.

jared, on flowmasters = the lower the number the louder the sound. the higher the number the deeper and quieter the sound. 40's are the normal packy pipes.. a 60 series is what you'd normally hear on an old mans ride, deep, somewhat quiet but great mellow sound. i love 60 series on a v8. the 40s are just too raspy and packy for me. when you wrap out the truck, 40's make that packy packy packy noise.. its terrible. every chevy fullsize around here has 40 series cause that is all the muffler shop in town sells and i get so desperately tired of hearin what i call packy pipes. the higher the series number the deeper it gets. you can still creep around but sounds good and loud when you wrap out and is more mellow than 40 series.
