I blew one of my 15" Eclipse subs (SVC) a few months back. I finally got around to taking it out of the sub box. I though I toasted the voice coil on it but it actually seperated from the cone and the part that gets glued(i think) to it. That seperated and I want to know if I can save the sub or not? Is there a special glue that would bond the two together even with the crazy excursion they take. I'm not really sure if its just glue that holds them together in the first place. It just looked that way. I can feel some think tin/metal that was glued over. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the coil came away from the cone? more than likely, its not worth saving. It will (probably) be crooked in the gap even if it's just a little bit. That's not good at all, scratching and all that.

But, it is "just glue" it's called CA Glue. It's a 2 part glue, one is the "glue" and the other is the activator. They also have a black glue that is sorta like a rubberized glue, thats what they use to glue the surround the cone, as well as the basket.

dont mess with it... it will eventually seperate again

If its just glue what makes a subwoofer that is brand new any different from a blown one if its the same glue used? I guess its worth trying. Its only a few bucks on Ebay.

Is it one of the models TC sounds built for eclipse? Maybe you could contact them about repair prices or if they market a replacement that would work correctly for you. I think the web site is www.tcsounds.com .

my buddy had the comp.3000 watt eclipse 15 and his blew from pounding it all day long and he ended up getting a new basket insted of buying a new sub. it was half the price of a new sub and he was able to do it him self.

I only have the 15" SVC Aluminum Eclipse 6ohm woofer. Here is a pic of what it looks like:

I would contact tc sounds and see if they can do a recone.

Fi audio also rebuilds some speakers, even making custom mods for some people. MIght be cheaper if they can do it? I would ask and if necassary, send them the pics and see what they say.

Good luck

If your going to reglue it you have to have some kind of spacer to keep the coil cemtered around the pole piece. If not it will rub and sound like shit. I used to work for Rockford Fosgate and have repaired more speakers then you can imagine. We used CA to glue everything down. Its pretty much super glue.

any 2 stage epoxy will work

u need to line that cone up perfectly or as close to perfect as you can get it

a spacer woudlnt be bad either

was there something wrong with the box
because ive had a subwoofer do the same thing and it was because there was too much airspace in the box and it was dropping bottom and it finally gave up.. i just bought a new sub
