I apologize for the novel ahead of time, just wanting a little bit of input from you guys as I am totally new to air suspensions. My truck has Air Ride Tech front and rear kits. My rear kit only needs about 40-50 PSI in each side to get to ride height. The front however needs 140 PSI to be comfortable and not rub fenders. Now I know the front of the truck is heavier than the rear, so more pressure is required. If I was to swap out the 2500 bags (I think) that came with the kit, for say 8 inch slams, then theoretically it would take less pressure to bring the front end up to ride height. Is my thinking correct? I am running a 5 gallon tank and a 380c compressor and every time I air up the truck, I have to wait for the tank pressure to build before I can make any final adjustments. I really don't want to use a bigger tank. FYI I am only running a 175 pressure switch, would a 200 make a big enough difference? Thanks in advance for any input.

Im not too familiar with the air ride kit for the front. Do you have drop spindles or lower control arms? I run the re8 slams on the front of mine but i have a torsion truck bag kit on it. I cruise around at 45-50 psi.

200 would make a difference but not a big difference. These trucks are heavy. If your running 2500 in the front you definately need to get some bigger bags. My ride height in the front was 120, and that was the fender 30 inches from the ground on 32 inch tires which let me turn lock to lock without alot of rubbing. You have bag behind axle setup in the rear so you won't need much pressure in the rear to get lift. At 175 psi, i could barely get to ride height with nitrogen. I had to have 200 in the tank to be able to get alot of lift. WHen I ran compressed, I would have to air the front up all the way, and then air the rear up once the compressor caught up. That was an 8 gallon tank with one AZ. I would run 200 psi and add another compressor. Should make a big difference.

I'm running 2 inch drop spindles, but I still don't have to lift as high as most other guys as my truck doesn't lay right out. My front x-member sits about .5 to 1 inch from the pavement when aired out (the frame is about 2.5 inches at the front of the cab). I only need about 5 inches of lift to get to ride height. I am planning on going a little lower (2 inches front and 4 inches rear) and figure my current situation will be much worse if I don't plan ahead now. I only need room for 22's with a 265 or 285/35/22 tire anyway. I might just have to tear it down next week and install some slams on all four corners with a 200 PSI pressure switch.

If there are any other tips, I AM ALL EARS. Thanx.

I would definately invest in another compressor. It does take alot of air to get these trucks off the ground. It's going to be hard for the one 380 to keep up with it. I had to wait on my AZ numerous times and the 380 don't put out near what it does.

Im not sure how your front kit is set up but if it has 2500s changing the bag would definitely help. when Ekstensive first did mine it had a firestone 2800 and i had to run about 90 in the front with a 265/35/22 i recently changed to a slam re8 and now I can run 80 in the front and get the same lift

Thanks guys. I'm gonna tear my truck down again first thing tomorrow morning so I can confirm what parts to order and do it again. I'll probably notch the frame and trim up front to finish it. I'll have to keep the stock tank though, so it won't be layed right out, but hey, it should still be good though.

i had the air ride kit and had the same problem. swap the bags for slam re7's, i now run about 80psi in the front, gives me about a two finger gap tire to fender

Hey slammedram, you got any pics of your truck? Just curious to see how your's looks. There's another guy in my town with an air ride kit on his ram, but it doesn't sit as low as mine in the front (and he's running a smaller diameter tire), though I am gonna start some cutting here in the next week to go lower with mine anyway. I've got four RE7's, a 200 PSI pressure switch and a second 380 in the garage, they arrived last week. I'm just trying to work out the rest of the details as far as where the truck is going to sit in the rear when finished, as well as all of the items to be relocated/modified under the hood. I really don't want to mess with the stock gas tank out back though, so it will probably only get a 3-4 inch notch.
