One of you'r front wheel speed sensors is droping out. You need to hook it up to a scanner and watch what the front sensors are reading. When you slow down to about 8/10 mph one of them will show zero and the other will go down like normal, 9,8,7,6 and so on. You can try removing both front sensors and cleaning the surface of the spindle where they mount with some sand paper. Some times you'll get crud between the sensor and spindle causing them not to read right, thus dropping out. It sucks when you're pulling a truck in the shop (at a low rate of speed) hitting the brakes and then the fuckin thing dosen't want to stop.

The pedal on my 01 Sierra has been pulsing on and off lately, mostly when I am about to come to a complete stop, and moving fairly slow. Feels like the ABS is grabbing, but the roads are not wet or icy. Is there a sensor that is or could be going bad?

Thanks.

This actually just happened to me. It is not your Speed Sensors from your ABS. This is actually the electronic control valve, It is the big black sending unit for all of your brake fluid located on the framerail. What happens is you apparently had to slam on your brakes pretty hard sometime in the past couple of months. Which in turn, because of electronic wear and tear, cause this ECV to hang open. Basically what this means is the valve is stuck open and is letting air into the line. There is only one way to fix this. You have to purchase a new ECV and both Speed Sensors for the front. If you decide to do this it is $2700 in parts alone. I do not recommend driving the vehicle for too long with the fuse pulled as it will ruin the master cylinder very fast. Then you will have to pay to replace that as well. Hope this helps.
