i have asked this before, and seen the artical in mini-truckin' but i don't have the issue anymore(or can't find it!!!) but how do you get the front of a taco to lay oout by moving the steering up. is that all you do? move it up one inch drill new holes, cut one inch off the bottom of the crossmember the cap it off?? is that correct?? did i leave anything out??

moving the steering up doesn't make you lay out. what size wheel are you running? most likely the thing holding you back is the factory radius arm that goes toward the front of the frame is in a bind if you are runnin big wheels and haven't modded it, either that or the factlry upper a-arm. the bushings in them aren't really made to handle the extreme articulation of layin out on big wheels. first tell me what size wheels you are running. cause if you tub the firewall, ditch the inner fenders, bend your clutch master line up, and have the right brackets you can lay out on 19s you will have camber issues and bumpsteer issues but it'll lay out. so first figure out what is holding you up and keeping you from laying out because the steering rack mod is about the last thing you have to do to make it lay out. only if u'r runnin 20s should you have to do that. i'm runnin 19's with a 35 series tire up front and could lay out without moving my steering rack up. i did move mine up to get rid of the bump steer but it was not a necessity for laying out

Or you can bolt on a set of my spindles and then there is no special work needed...

the reason they moved the upper control arm mounts up was b/c they sectioned an inch outta the lower control arm mounts. and no thats not it. its a pain in the ass!! just spend the dough and but some spindles from max. never personally bought some but i heard that they were good.

cando makes upper and lower control arms and steve should be caught up this week or next with all his old orders. id give him a try cause they also have the bag cups that fit right in the stock spring holders. it makes it real easy!!!

The spindles from Max make it lay with no problem. i run them on mine.

actually to make the taco lay complete frame the center crossmember needs to be section an inch and moving the steering up just helps clear the section crossmember and corrects the steering angle from the spindle spacers. you can lay up to a 20 with stock components and a spindle spacer and ball joints in the factory spots

i have pics if you need some that werent included in the article

i am running 17's right now but plan on going to 18's. i want to lay full frame and i am about an inch and a half from laying out. my firewall is tubbed, inner fenders goneball joints flipped and i am running the old alter-images front taco cups on the top. could they be the problem?
