I just put in a 4300K HID headlight kit into my 04 Chevy truck and now when the headlights are on, the radio goes to static. I've had three of my friends say the same thing happened to them and they haven't found a way to fix it yet. I bought the kit from HIDlook.com and nothing was ever mentioned about the lights messing with the radio. Well, if anybody knows something that can help I would appreciate it. Thanks!!

Well I put them in last night and I haven't been able to get ahold of the company yet today, so I was gonna see if anybody on ssm knew anything about it in the meantime

yea i have the 12k and they do the same thing,it might have something to do with the ballast or the amp draw cause i know they take alot of juice to run them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i dont pay it to much attention cause i always listen to cd'z

im runnin a set of 8ks and mine never did that but i know i have to get my parking brake light to come on if not my lights act like strobes but i didnt run the relay like my kits said to do but my buddy who has the same kit in his 04 did the same thing and didnt run a relay and he hasnt had a problem

are you runnin the relay?

If it's taking alot of juice to run your HIDs then you might want to return them. HIDs typically run on half the current or less compared to stock bulbs. I would double check all grounds first, then just bark at the supplier till they give you a good reason as to what the problem is. Hopefully they give you a good fix, and not a bunch of bullshit.

i have a set from hidlook.com to the problem is the day time running lights. my wife trailblazer ss does the same thing and they might want to strobe to. either get a daytime running light killer or call joe up and get the relay kit its like 20 buks but u get power from the battery, worked for me, badass kit to cheap also..

oh yeah the problem is when the daytime running lights turn on the voltage varies and its not a constant voltage. hid kits do take more voltage than stock. if u manually turn the heaadlight switch on theyll work...

HIDs taking more power to run than stock headlights is a misleading statement. Most HID kits use 30-35 watts to run. A stock headlight bulb will usually be about 50-60 watts. Highbeams, for sake of arguement will be 75 watts. Now, daytime runners will be 25-50% of the voltage, which is why they are dimmer. If you use the 25-50% of 75 watts, you end up with 19-38 watts supplied through the wires. It is the ballast that converts the 30-35 watts to the insane power needed.

This is why some HIDs do not come on unless turned on manually. The HID system may not be getting anywhere near the 30-35 watts needed to run them. IF they blink, it is because the HIDs are getting a close enough voltage to arc, but not maintain that arc.

Another potential problem could be the fact that the insane voltage the ballast is producing is causing interference with a vital circuit or the antenna, akin to running you amplifier power supply too close to your signal wire.

Not trying to sound like a know-it-all, just trying to clarify for those who may be scared off from using HIDs.
