That's not completely right. Most shock mfg don't ship their stuff with the "flutter" stack valving, that is a trick that tuners use. The bypass shock has a tube that allowes the shock fluid to bypass the valve head making that portion of the travel softer than the un-bypassed portion. This works well on trucks that are designed to "fall out of the sky" but I have talked the guys a KING to build a shock that is more geared to the "frame dragger" crowd.

Also by adding more and less pressure to the resevoir it does not make the shock more or less firm. Though it would seem that it has to, I can assure you that it dosen't, the only thing that it does is add or subtract from the spring rate.

Well, as that is true as well...

Pretty much to know anything about building a baja truck, you have to know EVERYTHING about top of the line shocks-as they are a very key component to a well build baja truck-which Max has built a few of in his time
