here is my truck back in the day 7/3/03 when my truck had actual paint on most of it. This with a 16 inch rim but the same as the 17 talked about above. i did a weld in c-notch mono leafed with the torque sping still and 4 inch angled blocks. I also added plate around it cause it looked weak to start with. before i decided to cut it i had a dint were the axle would hit the bed.with that and some rear mounted bags on some bars i could three wheel.

Ive done my Silverado and some S-10s by laying a piece of 2x2 1/4 wall on the top of the frame and plating the sides, basically using the 2x2 at the top of the notch. You just need to trim the brace on the bottom of the bed where it hits the notch. Can fit 20's on a Silverado or a S-10 using this method... Hope that helps....

Thanks for the info. Brad, his truck looks just like yours but ex-cab. Very similar wheels also.

sucks they dont have the calculator for 88-98 chevys. anyone know how big of a notch i need if i am running 17's? 245 45 17?Originally posted by potter

it might be, you'll need the biggest not you can get under the bed (i think on a 2nd gen a bolt in MIGHT do it, but i dont remember), you can goto www.airridetalk.com and look at their notch calculator and it will tell you if you'll lay on that tire with a bolt in notch.

anyways, i'd go behind the axle f9000 bag setup in the back if you wanna stay under the bed along with a tri 4 link, you can get heims instead of bushings (get the good ones) and have short tabs and clear the bed.

Just do it right. cut the bed floor around the perimeter and weld it back in as if you were body dropping the truck. Then get it re line-x 'd. It'll lay hard, and you'll still retain the whole bed floor. Or you could try and do it the other way and not lay out, have a dent in the bed floor and then regret the whole thing after a month.

I laid out on 18's with my s-10 with no hole in the bed...just a small notch

it seems like more and more people are poppin up on the message boards askin bout not cuttin the bed it.. if it aint cut it aint custom...

I dont see how "if it aint cut it aint custom" refers to this. Some people go for different looks.
