OKAY GUYS I GOT A QUESTION FOR YOU FRAME BUILDERS. WHEN YOU GUYS ARE DOING A STOCK FLOOR(MINES A C10) HOW ARE YOU BUILDING THEM SO THAT THE STOCK BODY MOUNTS ARE IN THE SAME SPOT IF YOU HAVE THE BODY OFF AND ONLY THE FRONT CLIP TO WORK WITH? AND IS IT OKAY TO BUILD ONE ON THE FLOOR IF IT IS LEVEL ENOUGH? ALSO ON C10s LIKE MINE, I KNOW YOU HAVE TO Z THE FRONT SO IS IT OKAY TO HAVE THE STOCK 15IN WHEELS ON IT FOR MOCK UP? AND WITH THE FRONT CLIP FULLY LAID OUT HITTIN THE ARMS DO YOU JUST MAKE THE TRANSITION INTO THE NEW FRAME RAILS?

i have one table i jig up the stock frame (if available) and then build the frame on another table, then transfer it to the one, line everything up, screw down the mount locators the desired bodydrop amount, then affix my bodymounts....

SO DO YOU MOUNT THE STOCK MOUNTS THEN WELD THEM INTO PLACE ON A JIG THEN CUT THE REST OF THE STOCK FRAME?

what alot of people do is throw the stock frame on the table weld the front section of the frame to the table then weld all thread or anything really through the stock body mounts to the table then cut off the part of the frame you dont need......Then your left with a front clip and some all thread weled to the table to represent where the body mounts go

Heres what i do personally.

In my opinion, you need to use a frame table of sorts. Lots of people have built them on the ground, and they have been successfull, but having the frame on a table makes it that much easier to work with .

I layed my frame on the table i made. Then welded some tabs to fix the front end and the rest of the frame directly in place. I then welded nuts to the table directly under each bodymount, and ran a piece of threaded rod through the body mount location, then got a piece of steel like a washer to weld on the rod to mark the height of the stock bodymounts. After i marked all the heights, i cut the frame off ware i wanted to start the new frame. Layed my 2x3 out, and then threaded the bodymount markers back into their spots and put a spacer on them to drop the height of each location the amount i want to bodydrop the truck, then my new mount would but right up to that and go from thare.

idk, if thats confusing or not. check this profile of mine for more pics Http://www.streetsourcemag.com/Profile.aspx?ProfileID=42921

you should have an idea of the overall wheel diameter you are going to run. setup the front suspension (cut out the spring pocket, install drop spindles, whatever) & get it as low as you can. then tie in the middle frame rails to the front clip.

if i remember right on a 265/35/22 the inner control arm piviots (w/ strong arms & spindles) will be about 1" off the ground.

here's one haggard just did

my frame didnt need to be "Z" cut, S-10 trucks lay flat frame without any issues. So i just layed the frame flat, and jigd' it in place, then cut it ware i wanted it.

BUT

I did just do a toyota at the shop that needed to be Zed, I just layed the front x-member flat on the frame table, the rest of the frame didnt lay out with it....so then leveled the rest of the frame, jiged' the front section of the frame in place, marked the bodymounts, and then cut off what i didnt want. then layed the new rails flat on the table in orientation to the rest of the frame, and welded it up.
