Rat rod benz......

I'm glad this was not a thread about my car.

I do not like the paint at all. If you want to have a rusty car, take it down to metal and let the weather get to it.

I ACTUALLY THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE BEFORE I OPENED IT BEN --- HAHAH ---- ITS NOT A RAT ROD -- ITS A GAY ROD - YES I CREATED THE TERM GAY ROD --- IT LOOKS LIKE A HOMO HAD AN ERECTION HENSE THE TERM GAY ROD -- GET IT ...... YES IT SOUNDS STUPID -- LIKE SOME OF U GUYS BITCHING ON HERE THAT HAVE NEVER EVEN SEE A ROD OF ANY SORTS LEAVE IT ALONE ALLREADY - THIS THREAD IS SO DONE !!!!

For some reason Ratrod is used like we use and or a. Your suede painted minitruck is not a ratrod. Your rattle can black primered import is not a ratrod. Most people use the term ratrod on different rides as a cop out for finishing it. We used to call it under construction but I guess ratrod is the new politically correct term so no one is offended. Kind of like how there is no such thing as a garbage man. They are sanitation engineers. Alot of rodders I know are offended by the term.



This is not a ratrod either. Some of you may call it that but it is not.

As far as the benz. Just because someone termed it wrong doesn't take away from the quality and amount of work that went into it.

a rat rod is an UNSAFE hot rod. one that isnt finished......on purpose. The car he posted, is finished, it can go down the road for hundreds of miles (if it had some sort of cooling system) safely. Hell, it probably does fine like it is, being open fendered, and all that jazz.

Rat rods are shitty cars, built on purpose to be shitty, and the owner KNOWS its shitty.

rat rod not rad rod who cares.... that thing is sick ass.... the paint although some may not like it is actually very well done, at least from that picture... making paint acutally lok rusty is hard as hell, and it looks well done. And yes rat rod is a played out term, and it is way over used by many who have never seen a real rat, or any rod for that matter. Oh and that one pictured above is killer, true 50's style...

How can you say that is a traditional hot rod and not a rat rod? Dont get me wrong its bad ass, but your deefinition of rat rod pretty sums up what it is. A rat rod can have the appearance to be unsafe or unreliable but still be a perfectly operating machine.

Rat Fink is one of the several hot-rod characters created by one of the originators of Kustom Kulture, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. Roth's hatred for Mickey Mouse led him to draw the original Rat Fink. After he placed Rat Fink on an airbrushed monster shirt, the character soon came to symbolize the entire hot-rod/Kustom Kulture scene of the 1950s and 1960s.
