I'm running a single 12" Punch P2 off of 300 watts, and it's enough to tickle my eardrums- really happy for the money!

I went to a stereo shop just this past weekend and heard the new W3v3 JLs. They sound very good. A little expensive at the shop but found them online a lot cheaper. You didn't say what size but the 12s I believe are just over $200.

what ever you buy- 90% of the sound quality is dependent on proper chambering and the amps you're matching up to the sub(s). you probably already know that. i've had really good luck with mats. they make a pretty decent amp too. small company. good tech support.

JL 12 W6. Run one or a pair and you will be amazed. Even the W3's are awesome. Up against ANY sub I've heard, JL destroys everyone. I even like JL's Little bro line, TMA. Owned by JL, but a fraction of the price and they hit like a mofo. Better than Diamond, Eclipse, Panasonic, Alpine from what I can hear.

If i were you I'd get outta the playschool subs and roll with the big boys. Try out Digital Designs, RE, Elemental Designs, Adire Audio, Image Dynamics, Diamond Audio, Most of the well Known Companys out your Basically payin for the name not the speaker which will make u end up gettin different subs anyways

Fosgate P-series subs are very good, and won't break the bank. I have 2 P1's and its enough to make me deaf in my right ear and set off a few car alarms. My boy has P2's in his Ranger, they're badass too. Rockford Fosgate is a good product, and you wont regret going with them. Run my P-1's 1000 watts everyday to the max, still sound as good as the day i bought them.
