I was looking at the Canon Rebel XTi or the Nikon D40x. What do you recommend out of those two? I think I was leaning more toward the Nikon, but wanted to get other people's opinions. I will be doing all kinds of photography, but a lot of it will be of my motorcycle races.

Also where would be a good place to buy one? I found buydig.com, and they seem to have good prices...http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=NKD40X1855

Thought that was pretty good, $100 less than Best Buy, and comes with a 2GB card.

Thanks

I currently own a D2Xs which I think is the finest camera I have ever handled, and have had a few Nikon cameras over the years that use film.

When I was at MiniTruckin', I used a few different Nikons when I was shooting film. When digital took over, I used a company-issued Canon 10D, and it was fine for use for just about everything.

When it was time to buy my own pro gear, I realized that I had a treasure trove of Nikon lenses and other paraphernalia that works fine with the D2Xs. All Nikon lenses fit all Nikon cameras - although some features may not work with newer bodies when older lenses are used.

Both Nikon and Canon make excellent cameras. Nikon is the only company in the world that manufactures its own glass from silica - hence Nikkor lenses.

Watch out for some of those online camera places. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ is the only place i will deal with.

I like the nikon's. I have a D200 currently, and i like it a lot.

Thanks for the help. I think I'll order from BH since 2 people have recommended them... they are $50 more, but I think it's worth knowing I'll get what I ordered, and having it not be broken...

I've ordered several cameras from B&H Photo Video in the past. They're good and easy to work with should you have a problem. Always buy products with a genuine USA warranty though. Last thing you want to try to do is have a gray market body or lens fail and try to have warranty work done.

I also deal STRICTLY with B&H Photo. Excellent service. I use the Canon 20d for all my photos. They have since replaced it with the 30d. The 20d and 30d are what most of Primedia's editors are using too.

I'd go with the Canon, if it where me. I have the Rebel XT and I loave it. The XTi has a few more features, and more megapixels than the XT. I don't realy like the Nikons, but I know a lot of people that use them, and like them. Either camera will do the job just fine. And I totaly agree about buying from B&H photo. They are a fantastic company, I have used them several times.
