WITH OUT PUTTING A SCANER AND SEEING ACTUAL READINGS U WILL JUST BE GUESSING....THE AUTO PARTS STORE SCANERS ARE THERE JUST TO SELL PARTS... THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHATS REALY GOING ON...THIS IS WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO KNOW WHAT IT IS FOR SURE
Circuit Description
The mass air flow (MAF) sensor is an air flow meter that measures the amount of air entering the engine. The powertrain control module (PCM) uses the MAF sensor signal to provide the correct fuel delivery for all engine speeds and loads. damn you are a hell of a copy and paster!
i was just reading that in dealerworld too!
i'm not a technician but if its a 5.3 the intake gaskets leaking are pretty common.
and he's right i sell parts and i would burn all of those aftermarket scanners, they make everyone think they know what they are talking about!
anyway good luck

Haha damn. I really wish i knew what all that meant. I just talked to Munday Chevrolet and the guy there told me the same thing you said about the autozone ones not really describing the problem. I guess the only thing i really can do is take it to Munday and have them check it?

if it was mine i would pay the diag fee at the dealership,it will keep you from replacing parts it doesn't need!well if it was mine i'd walk out there and scan it in the parking lot

i worked on gm cars a while back and i remember a tsb about a over oiled aftermarket air filter causing MAF problems. you said you running a k&n filter and im assuming you oiled it, might be your problem there.

Also i dont know if this helps any, but i know that today when it came on, i was picking up speed and when my truck shifted to third gear it felt like the truck kind of jerked 2 times as opposed to the one thrust you feel when it normally shifts, it felt like 2 right after the other? and that is exactly when the light came on? maybe that has something to do?
