I just upgraded my battery to a stinger 1700. When my bass hits it dims my lights really bad. I dont want to throw out 250 for a new alt just yet. i was wondering about capacitors. i have never used one. Are they worth it? any words of advice when buying one?

the amp i have is an old school fosgate 800a2 amp going to 2 10" fosgate subs

is it true that you have to go 88.8 miles per hour to get these to work? kidding.

not worth it unless you have a bigger system...

get a kinetik addon battery. you will be very happy. One little battery has the equivelncy of 100 1farad capacitors. Go to woofersetc.com and search for that brand

capacitors dont work! they just add more strain to the alternator, just upgrade the alt and run bigger wire for the alt to battery and upgrade ground wires, if you dont believe me that capacitors dont work go to the12volt.com and search for why capacitors dont work, there is like a 7 page write up about it

would i be able to run my stock battery (energizer) and use the stinger as a capacitor? how would i wire that in?

here is a thing most people forget. Upgrade your ground to your body as well. From the battery to the body. That helps out a TON when you upgrade the alt to battery wire

I may have to try the upgrade ground and alt. trick, I just got my truck almost 100% back together, minus the stereo and a bit of interior. I put in an electric rad. fan, and every so often if the truck is idling and i have the compressor on, and the fan kicks on, the truck stumbles and stalls. So i was a bit concerned what would happen when the stereo is on. Right now my bat cables are 4 ga, and the alt. wire to the bat. is 10 ga. Maybe a heavier ground and alt wire?

does anyone know where exactly the alt wire goes to on a 88-98 chevy 350? right now they it goes into a wire loom and into the abyss. so i have no idea how to change it out.
