square body burban hidden hinge kit for barn doors

Would i have to just get suicide door hinges and make them work for the back doors on my 87 burban? Or is there a company that makes the hidden hinges for this application? I like the barn doors, it's a little different, but the whole thing is shaved except the back door hinges stick out about 2" from the back, looks gay.

I saw someone with them shaved which doesn't help you cause I don't remember where... lol

what about trying a stock hinge from the side doors? just a suggestion, i have no idea if thats better than your idea

Many of the old cars from the 30's had a similar hinge to the barn doors. I'm not familiar with what they do, but most people change them to a hidden hinge. being a door, they may just use a standard hinge, but something to check maybe.

Hey Jumbo what about the barn doors on a newer burban or tahoe? They dont stick out, take a look at one and see if you could do a hinge swap with minimal work.

Is it possible to convert it to a tailgate with the window rolling down into the taigate.

I too have run into the same problem on my hoe. That is a good idea bout the suicide hinges. I know Bill at ekstensive made some from scratch outta 1/2 inch plate. I don't know exactly how he did it. When I get to that point, I will probably just take it to him.

have you tried LMC?somtimes they have some or lnow someone who makes them.

yeah, i tried lmc for the 2000 and up tahoe's, but all they have are grills and bumper covers and stuff. I have yet to see a newer model hoe w/barn doors so i don't know if the hinges are hidden or not. The 92-99 subs have the exterior hinges as well, they just don't stick out as much. Guess i'll have to pony up for suicide hinges. After i get the burb safe, of course (2nd weekend in december. don't worry, i'll post pics.)

i have a 94 burb with the barn doors and my hinges stick out too.i dont even know if the 2000 and up had barn doors.you might want to try a hot rod shop.or can you just flip the factory hinges around somehow?
