i was wondering if its possible to coat the inside of my tank with something to prevent it from rusting. I was thinking about putting por15 in one of the ports, and spinning the tank so it can coat the inside. would this work? would it be worth it? i just dont want rust getting into my valves or anything.

putting por15 in one end of the tank and spinning it will more than likely not coat the inside of the tank evenly all the way around.if this happens you could get a chunk that breaks off and could jam a valve.you might be farther ahead to buy a tank that is already treated on the inside.i have seen a few companys advertiseing them.a good way to prevent rust build up is to drain the tanks once a week or more. than that way you should avoid having water build up in the tank causing rust.

I used to work at Big Dog motorcycles, and they used a green gas tank coating. My buddy hooked me up. You should be able to get it at any cycle shop.

Stainless steel tanks... then you will have zero rust problems...Also I was toying with the idea of an air to air cooler, then run to a good water trap before the tanks.

use the por 15 tank sealant kit. just plug all the holes except 1 to fill it, but plug it to once u got the stuff in then follow directions.

Don't forget to drain out the excess when you're done, BEFORE it dries. Also, don't set it down with a port at the bottom of the tank, because some of the sealer will drain, and sit there. I learned the hard way, and sealed a port on a motorcycle tank.

Or just buy Stainless or Aluminum tanks.

Real men don't read directions.

Or at least Max doesn't.

our shop uses a local radiator shop to seal our motorcycle tanks. Some places are better then others but you'll have a rubberized coating that will stretch and move if for some reason your tank cracks....so no leaks.
