I know traditional rod frames are a bit lighter than the frames we build, but theres a guy that built one out of wood, just big enough to get it up off the ground. It leveled out with some shims and worked perfect for him.

I may try it, as I have all the crap other than a big sheet of wood to do the top. I think if you were to really take your time it would work just fine. After all....people DO build rails on the shop floor.

i built the frame for my pup on a wood table. used 2 sheets of 3/4" MDF and 4 saw horses.

i do want to build a real one once i have a decent shop space though.

I will probably do the same, but also brace it up on the bottom to keep it a bit stronger than just the wood.

I wanted a level table big enough to do a traditional bodydrop so I bought this from a local welding shop that went out of business.It has three rafters running length ways I use to jig frames.
