as for the crown vic, thats a VERY VERY good choice if your not planning on throwin mirrors under the truck at shows, or stock flooring, and already have the car or know of one cheap.

It's basically (for my truck, sorry dont know for slick sides) new rear cab mounts and bed mounts. Nice little swap that could honestly, probably be done in a week if you worked afternoons and the body was off the old frame already. A few friends, little steel and a cheap welder would do for a solid swap with newer car style handling. Works bagged as well.

The only article I actually found on it spoke of only swapping out the front suspension. I hadn't actually thought of swapping out an entire body.

yeah, i didn't mean to swap frames, just the k member or whatever it's called, it's the right width for the stock frame and looked to be an extremely simple swap....

Oh....well I know with my truck its just new rear can mounts, new bed mounts, and cut the rear of the frame off, and flip/swap them to the other side and it will work with some tweaking.

I know it's an insane idea but how low can you get with just a drop axle for the front? I'm entertaining all kinds of options right now as I'm trying to find the look that I truly want. I have a really hard time finding any pics, sites or anything for this truck.

2-4 inches w/ a drop axle, there are guys that will drop what you have and i think some places even just sell dropped axles for it, PLUS you can get up to 3" (maybe 4 but i havent' looked in a while) from dropped leaf springs... so pretty fukin low... obviously a static drop, so tire clearance issues w/ turning might be an issue, so do your homework!

my neighbor builds a lot of f100s(50s) and thats all he uses is towncar/crownvic/marquis running gear. just uses the frame rails under the cab and in front of the front wheels for bumper/ rad. mounts. raises the bed floor for the big hump in the rear and uses the motor wiring and everything from the car. makes it look factory.

Help me find some parts fellas. I'm just about "search engine illiterate". I need to know if it can be converted to power steering and where I can find a dropped axle if I decide to go that way.

Chris, you are in fact a cheap bastard. LOL.
No seriously, sounds like a cool idea to me.
But if you are going to have to completely disassemble the truck anyways, wouldnt be easier to swap total truck frames? I might possibly be able to get you a stock 67 Chevy chassis if you dont have access to one.

Glad to know my friends really know me.
