not always, the REAL solidworks I can get for $140 and I bought microsoft office pro; normally over $500 for $170. there is no difference between a "student" edition and a real copy except the student edition's licence sometimes expires in 2-4 years depending on the program and real copy's licence is good for forever
as far as you needing to be a full time student I have no idea. Everytime I buy I have to go up to the business office and get them to fax over a bunch of forms, such as my transcript and copy of my student idea, to the website that I bought it from. It could probably be done but I would look more into what all would be required before I signed up for English 1101
edit: and there is no difference between the drawing or problems possible in any student edition vs. a non-student that I have used, they both always save in the same file extension and are completely cross compatible
