as i sit here barely able to focus on the computer, i wonder how many other people have had to get crap removed from their eyes from grinding or hammering or whatever...

i always wear glasses at work and home, but every now and then something gets around them (usually grinding) and gets lodged in my eye... i guess im going to get some bob vila wood cutting safety glasses that strap around the head and suction to your face... my boss has been in the metalworking industry for 11 years and a couple years in school, and has never been to the doc to remove anything... i hear of other people who have had it done 15-20 times (not big advocates of safety glasses though)... at least i found a doctor that will take it out for under 100 bucks now.... anyone know of comfortable saftey glasses that are really good at keeping stuff from blowing under them?

Must suck to have to pay for that. Although sometimes I'd rather pay $100 then wait for 6 hours on our backlogged free healthcare system.

I've never had to get anything dug out of my eye but I'm pretty sure I've got some weld spatter in my thumb thats going to have to get hacked out of there soon.

Metal in my eye on three seperate occasions. The first time I wasn't sure so I let it sit in for a day and when I woke up the next mourning (was suprised I could even sleep myself) I couldnt hardly open my eye So yeah I ended up with a rust ring after they got the metal out so then another day later I had to get the rust etched out which wasnt to bad because it was on the white part of the eye and the second time but the third was on the edge of the color and that sh*t was sensitive as a motha when they drilled. They numbed it but when they drilled the vibration bounced my eye so everything was jumping up and down much like an acid trip I about hurled then the doctor about hurled because i did it was awesome at this point lol. Hope somebody looses there lunch ovber this.

I have had metal in my eyes a few times it sucks they had to drill it out with a tiny drill.

Try blue blockers or ambervision glasses.

yea i got drilled the first time i had this happen, this time he just picked it out and flushed it, and put a safety contact lens on my eye...

and yea it was 98 bucks, and i left the house at 10:45 and was back before 12:00 with no appt.... if it was in my hand, i'd dig it out myself, but i couldnt see it in my eye, it was dead center, and in my eye...

I had a small piece of metal before that the optometrist had to remove. She used a small gun that was like a tattoo gun but went back and forth to get the rust spot out of my eye.

Have you tried glasses plus a full shield? I work in a trailer factory and whenever we do any grinding or cutting thats what we do and nobody seems to have any issues with it.

We have one guy who uses a router with a metal bit to cut out windows. by the time he is done he is covered in little shards of metal. He wears the glasses/shield combo and has never had an issue since I have been there.
