the rebuild kits you are looking at are for motors that have been machined... the .10, .20 and so on are sizes that the parts have been machinded. if your just rebuilding it you want the oem bearings rings pistons and so on... just talk to the machine shop thats gonna do the cleaning and they will tell you exactly what you need

please dont take this the wrong way, but you are wasting your time. They have 76 hp stock, even if you were able to double it by doing what you say you want to, you would still have less hp than a stock civic, and it would cost about as much to double the hp. More realistocally you can get 110-120 reliable out of them.

If you really want more power and more potential, put in an FE3 from a Kia sportage. It has the same block so it will bolt up to your trans and mounts, it is 130 hp bone stock, and would probably cost less to buy than the machine work for the FE2. The only trick is you need to either make the kia computer work or buy a standalone engine computer. Those tasks will cost less than the rebuild kit, weber and header.

well that is what i'm thinkin ive been lookin for a fe3 for a month now and only one i found they wanted 2300 and that is more than my rebuild

who called my name?

FE3's can be found cheaply if you are clever and pacient. Most slavage jards look at a "KIA" engine and determine it's value is very low- no matter what the condition or mileage. Little do they know- this engine is a Mazda engine and it's bad ass.

I've has the opportunity to buy these engines for a little as 200 dollars pulled at a junkyard- with around 100k on them. That price included all of the engine accessories as well, which could be sold for extra money. Rebuilding these is just as easy as an FE or F2, because it's the same engine!
