a buddy of mine got a 87 toyota truck and the guy he got it from moved before he got the lost title application. now he cant apply for one. does anybody know of a set of titles and vins he could buy off a parts truck or something

A 93 is a different body style and may throw up some red flags. You need to find a title for an 84-88, needs to have the same cab, bed, and also be 2WD assuming his is 2WD. Its a tricky process, and also very illegal. So be careful.

you might be better off, and safer finding a pos 84-88 that is similar and swapping the body and whatnot that is good from yours onto its frame. although some states determine a vechicles identity by the body, not the frame. so you would be putting a new frame under the title-less body, not putting a new body on a title-able frame.

here in ks you can apply for a storage title, its mostly for landlords who have tenants who abandon cars when they move out, or for tow companies who tow and store cars, but anyone can get one. Essentially if you can prove it has been on your property for 6 months, it qualifies. you have to run an announcement in the paper to give lienholders a chance to pay the storage fees, you can charge them up to 50 bucks a day if anyone comes forward, but most broken cars people will just write off. you might call a title company and see.

in nevada you can simply have the police come out and varify that the truck is not stolen once they have determined that it isnt yu can contact the dmv and get it tittled as an abandoned vehicle

why dont you just forge the duplicate title app. thats just as illegal as swapping vins and a hell of a lot easier
