i would recommend getting a shock that is a little longer than your lift height when all the way up so your shocks arent maxing out when you air all the way up. the same goes for when your aired out, it would be nice if the shock is not completely collapsed so you know your all the way down. just something ive run into in the couple ive delt with.

i definitely recommend using them though

deffinately go with shocks at least in the back... I dont have shocks in the back of my mazda and I am running 1/2" valves and airline so it lifts way to fast which just having shocks would slow down. Im going to put shocks on when i redo some of the suspension and air set-up

I usually run a 9" compressed shock up front, and about a 12" out back. Same shocks for most applications. I like Doetsch Tech, and Bilstein.

I usually run Monroe 33033 pretty universal..and small collapsed. If you need a starting point try those.

Talk about a dead horse...

You can run no shocks if you'd like. You can also drive on your rims without any tires too... just make sure you run heavy duty rims right?

Also, there isn't a "best" shock. You use what you can afford and what is important to you. I personally love the Bilstein shocks for the street, but King shocks makes me a killer shock that is perfect for minis, they're only about $800 for a pair.

As for lengths, figure out what you need based on how much room you have and how much travel you get. It takes a little bit of thinking, but it's worth it when it's all together.
