I may be getting a 85 toyota if things go as planned and I am wondering if anyone has put a 302 in one? Is it easier to put a sbc or ford in? I already have a 302 and wnat to use it but not sure what it will take. Does anyone have a pic of their frame stripped where I can see it? I can't tell much on the one I am looking at with the motor and all still in it.

but is the ford possible? what am i going to run in to?

The Ford might require less work on the firewall since the distributor is in front. Aside from that I don't see much of a difference. The Chevy will have more header options, but that snot that big of a deal.

I'm asking because that was a big deal with my ford. I wanted a chevy clip and it was going to require a diff oil pan setup and all. If it's going to be a "build your mounts" style swap, then I will go about doing it and getting a radiator to work with it and e-fans. I don't mind doing it, just don't want to get it all torn down and see the steering is going to ruin me. lol

Check out Festers build thread. It shows a shot from underneath, he has a Toyota clip and a 5.0 in his truck.

seth, fester has rack and pinion + double sump. Would like to stay with the steering box if possible. Don't mind swappin to a double sump if it will help though.

The standard steering setup allows more room than the rack and pinion would. It can also be modified for even more room. I didn't realize it was a double sump though. A rear mount sump would probably be the best bet though, and I know they can be bought. I know Dejavu has a Ranger with a Toy clip and a Ford motor I think.

I know you can swap it to work, and I am willing to do so, but I could have sworn i read it had to be a certain year model motor, from a car to do it if i remember right. Something about my dipstick going through the block and not the water pump or some shit like that, i don't remember. will google for a while.
