What thickness are you guys using? Exactly how far off the ground are you doors? Pics would be great. 88-98 fullsize preferrable, but any info would help.
Well I had a topic a while back on this. I was told 1/4" if im gonna be dragging plus ill have that 1/4" gap between the door So the flatbar would be the rocker which again is 1/4" but ive heard of a few saying that went with 3/16" and werent dragging.
I don't plan on doing any draggin in it, so I guess 3/16 will be plenty for me. So if the doors are about a 1/4 off the ground, that should put my front bumper flat on the ground, right?
That would be using the 1/4" flat plate u would then be 1/4" off the ground. Using 3/16" flatbar u would then only be 3/16" off the ground. Not sure with your body style you would have to measure that part but going off of memory I would say u would be in that ball park for sure with that year and model.
I'm pretty sure I know what your talking about. Right where the rocker rolls under the door is where i'd cut it and then u plate the bottom with your flatstock. That way u still have the top of the rocker inside the door and it looks factory.
Yeah, I think we are on the same page. When you cut the rockers of, is there a need to brace it between the process. You know, so it doesn't flex or anything?
Nah because you still have alot of integrity still there just go a little slow on the cutting so u dont warp the rocker and you will be fine also with welding the new flat iron on there.
i used 3/8 and it lasyted a while , of course it gone now , and yes i would reccommend putting some kida brace up inside the rocker when you cut them off , that area of my truck is weak as hell
