I am trying to get an 85 yota running and it's being a whore. When I put gas IN the bowl myself it runs, and it actually idles pretty good. buuuuuut when that runs out it raises rpms (leans out) and then ta daaa. it dies. the pump is pumping fuel, but its not getting to the carb, or atleast not enough for the truck to run. when i empty the carb via the drain plug it dumps a few ounces of gas out, is that normal or is it excess fuel that didn't get burnt? Is that before or after the jets and all? is there something i can do outside of buying/rebuilding the carb. I have tried blowing compressed air through the gas inlet on the carb and it makes it through to each bowl....so I don't know where my problem is.

oh and if it is shootin gas out of the fuel line, why would it be the fuel filter? im thinking its something IN the carb? but its worth changing this...

does your carb have a screen or filter built in?

i dont know? how would i figure that out? i know it has a "fuel solenoid" or whatever. it does have 2 little diafram lookin things in line with a couple vaccuum hoses i believe they are. and it WAS running fine and i tried tweaking the carb and it died. never could get it back...

The fuel filter is under the intake manifold.

And its called a "Fuel Cutoff Solenoid." Make sure it has power with Ignition ON, and that it is grounded properly.
