I built mine, and that will probably be the last one done that way. From now on, I will be spending the extra few dollars and saving a weekend worth of time.

I purchased a 20' stick of 2x2 1/4 wall square tubing for $10. I built my lowers out of this, and it was pretty easy. Had I had to pay full price for the steal, no way. I wouldn't build uppers at all with adjustable ends.

I built mine, its easier than you think. I have lots of link parts laying around, I will probably do it again.

Like Joel says, access to link bars is key to saving money. its pretty easy to see the price of the link parts, especially rod ends and tabs, relates exactly to the cost of a finished link setup, so that people make that same comparison and buy the finished link to "save money". By comparison, I got a scrap of 3/16 and had all the tabs cut (several 4 links worth) for under 40 bucks.

ive built one set, f that. took FOREVER to drill the 2x2 for the dam bushings.(not to mention alot of cutting oil and by by to a brand new metal hole saw)

I use a grinder and just rough out a crescent, then weld up the inevitable gap between it and the rod end with the welder on its highest setting, with the small gap the penetration is amazing. If you use the speedway bushings and 1.5 box, the rod ends exactly 1.5 too, and its easy to keep the bars exactly aligned and even easier to make a duplicate bar.

I build all of mine, and I prefer it that way. I don't think its hard, and I like building things that SD doesn't offer.

Stuff like that, wouldn't be that cheap from anywhere really. Easier to do it myself I think. But I build links for other people too so...

Thats like asking "Which condom feels the best." You're going to get a bunch of different answers that are based on opinion.

Really what you need to ask, is what do you want the 4-link to do? What kind of driving do you want to do? Then go from there.

where has everyone found the cheapest adjustable ends? and weld-on link ends? bushings?

i bought a 4link used from a friend but the adjustable bars are locked up from surface rust and might not be long enough for my application. so i might sell them to another friend and just buy from SD to my measurements.

i can see the whole "its not worth saving $5 for the amount of time" point.
