or run flow controls on the valve, problem is a valve is either open or closed electricly SP? putting flow controls on either the fill or dump valve controls the speed but they might restrict the air flow too much for suspension, we use them on cylinders at work, but they take much less air volume to operate

or buy slow downs and put them at the valves.....no wires, no electrical crap, less trouble.

an issue with modulation of valves when used in automotive setting is going to be shortened valve/solenoid life. Max is right about how the valves are controolled by pusling. When pulsing a valve we are using M/S as a time unit.As we all know these valves were designed for industrial use. In 99.9% of cases that i have come across we have taken great care to eliminate all contamination from the system. Unfortunatley in this environment this is next to impossible to completely control. In relationship to the solenoid when operating teh solenoid at any voltage lower than stated voltage it is increasing theoretical load on solenoid and can lead to a heat issue and eventual failure. Sorry if this is a bit jumbled but it is too damn early LOL

We use PWM valves for hydraulics all the time, the only thing is you need a cortoller that put out a PWM signal(voltage over frequency)...not cheap. The end result is basically putting a flow control inline after your valve, but you still only have one speed flow control then.

If you want to be able to control the rise speed and the lowering speed to that degree, wouldn't it be easier to use manual valves instead of electric? My friend has them on his ranger he has complete control over what ride height he wants and how fast it rises and lowers. Some one earlier stated the dump valve dampers that are adjustable, i have some on my truck and it is really nice. You can set how fast/slow the truck airs out.

Another idea which wouldn't be cheap really but cheaper by all means than a controller of some kind is adding one more valve after each dump so 4 total. Run these "extra" valves off of a T from the dump, if the valves are normally open then all of the air could dump straight out of them and at almost the same speed

Or you flip one switch that closes all four valves, this forcing the air to escape through a slow down such as the ones they sell or a plug with a hole drilled in it.

You could probably buy really cheap valves for this application if you wanted because if they go bad the only bad thing would be that the system would dump slow all the time or one corner would if you are picking up what I'm puttin down

i've actually been working on an adjustable flow control, where the "t" fitting in between the fill and the dump valve has a ball valve thats attached to a servo motor. From the cab of the truck you can control the servo for wide open or closed sort of like a throttle body. i actually got the idea from my sub amp. ppi 1400 its "q" bass dial.
my first set worked quite well just that the servo motor didnt have enough trave to open the ball valve all the way. it would also be sweet with a digital % gage to tell you how much its open. thought i was the only one thinking of this. shoot.
