Nice job on the Dodge. Those things sure look good all laid out. I have one question for you. You flipped the balljoints and it would appear that the angles would actually be in a more workable range that way. But, why didn't you choose a drop spindle to help you get that frontend down?

Drop spindles are expensive lol

I just really didnt want to have to deal with them. I knew it would get me low enough with flipping the BJ, so i went for it. It was a more economical decision, and i think its a better option than drop spindles. Plus, it gave me more room for my airbag also, because i ran an RE-8 up thare, so the flipping give me a few needed inches.

TaylorI don't know if you did it or not but I flipped the ball joint on the tie rod end as well to eliminate the bump steer. You can also move the steering rack up 2 inches(4.7LTR).I also have a set of brand new drop spindles for sale that are shortened 3 inches and and angle corrected. We never used them. I actually still have the whole front end set-up that we were going to use before we decided to go with the 26's instead of 24's. Your truck deffinately looks good.

hey pat u said u couldnt lay with 26s and still drive it everyday i should take pics of mine built for 24s but on 22s my a arms are raised 8 inchs and i have alot of lift
PatFukenBurke   +1y
I had enough lift to run the 26's. It was just really tight and keeping alignment on a 2000 mile trip wasn't going to happen. We also plan on towing with this. The other problem to get more lift is the steering rack it will bind up way before the suspension and you won't even know it without taking off the greese boots. It hadn't even left the shop and both sides were bent. That would suck if it broke loose going down the interstate. Plus the plan is to get some 30's which means we really would need more. So after weeks of planning and measuring built a straight drop axle to fix a lot of problems. I could build it the width I need to keep the tires off the fenders and be able to turn fully tucked, I now have a tighter turn radious which saved the A/C because the wheels don't turn into the firewall, perfect alignment @ any height, no bump steer, no camber issues, and I have 20+ inches of lift. The straight axle really did fix more problems than I anticipated...

ok, now that were done with that.....

Heres what ive been up to this year so far, there are multipule updates, so i just jammed them all in one post.....

So a couple weeks ago, i got a start on the list of stuff i want to get done this year. I want to "Z" the front frame, to make lay fully out. I want to put an aucutal tranny x-member in thare so that dosent hit anymoreI wan to relocate all my air shit to higer on the frame so im not so scared of draggin it lolI want to get a basic clean but custom interior done.

I got a start on the interior allready. I got some 1.25" .125" wall DOM and started bending up a tube center console, that will stretch from front to back. It will hold all my shit, like the stock one did, but it wont be an big bulky piece of crap. The top will have a dimple die'd piece of stainless that will flip up and give access to the storage, ware i have a really super suprise in store for that part. The back will house a fiberlgass enclosure under the rear seat, for a pair of subs, for just alittle kick. it will also flow up to the front under the tube console to add some color up front. The dash is getting re-done and my AVIC pioneer flip out is getting sold, and im going to put a double din unit in its place, and make the large heater and radio bezed from stainless steel.

Heres what ive started on, so far. I hope to update som pics thsi weekend. Im building some control arms for a friend this weekend, so idk if i will get much to work on mine... Ill post continous updates as i keep building over the winter. If anyone has any q's on anything, just holler!

I got alittle more done today.

I added the inner console part. its around 5.25" deep from the lid. I rolled the corners on my super sweet knee roll, its not perfect, but nothing really ever is.

I FINALLY found the hinges i need to make the lid flip up.. Its a pain because i wanted the hinges hidden, and to flip out then up. I looked at every hardware store, and couldnt find the hinge i needed.....so i looked at the cabinets that my wife made me haul out to the garbage the other day that she replaced, and what-do-ya-fukn-know , thare they are....PERFECT! Got the bracket for them welded in place, and then made a template out of cardboard that will simulate to an extent what the lid will look like. The final lid will be from 16g stainless, cut on the water jet, and have some holes cut out of it that i will dimple..... o yea, i made a dimple die press this weekend also.

Then i got to the part i was really waiting for. The reason i wanted to make a custom console was because I wanted to have a custom location to carry my pistol in my truck, when its not on me. I like to go to the range a few times a week during the summer, and i never liked putting it in a case in the back of the truck. Im a lisenced Concealed Weapons Permit holder, so i am able to carry my gun in the front of the vehicle now, so i wanted to make a nice home for it when its not on my person.

So, i got some dense foam, cut the pattern out, and dropped it in the console. The one pictured will not be the final cut. I got excited and didnt realise that i put the pistol way way to far to the drivers side of center. so, ill cut a new one and get it in thare when i do the final install. This piece shown will be hidded under a normal looking floor, so tha ti can use the console as a console when on a road trip.

The lid is cut from 16g stainless, and then i gave it the dimple die treatment.

starting my dash.

I wanted to mount a clean double dine unit in the dash, and also my digital air gauges, and switches so i dont have to have switchbox anymore.... so i came up with this, it replaces the stock ram plastick dash, and gives it a stainless look.

It will hold my avic-700bt and my digital air gauges and my switches.

Again, started with a piece of 16g stainless, then just went from thare, i gave the top a quick bend in the brake to match the dash contour, then started mounting everything to it, and it tured out really good.

Made a big change to the console, and then dropped it off at the powdercoaters place. I got it back today, and started to assemble it. The sheetmetal lower part, will be covered in grey carpet to break it up a bit, but i hope to install it all today!

that console is sik
jeebus @ mmw   +1y
carpeted the bottom section of the console, and i like it lots.

also, installed the machined aluminum caps that will cover up the mounting openings.

Im really likeing how its all coming together, simple, but custom.

I also installed some premier REV series co-axle speakers in the doors, and since i HATE the way oval speakers sound, i went with 6.5. mounted them in some adaptor plates, and installed.

going to start working on the sub box today, and the rear console.
