Well, I haven't been around here much in the last few years so I'll update you guys as to what's been going down in the minitruckin scene in the middle of NC.

I took on this project originally as a customer job for a friend of mine and it snowballed 100% into a full frame off restoration. In the process I stockfloored the frame, and did about 85% of the work in the pictures below.

the truck started out as an '86 s10 2.8 automatic with 300k miles on the clock. The engine has a fresh top end rebuild with some nice internals like a cam, roller rockers, hyd. lifters, valve job, etc. Other than that it's got a shitload of bolt-ons and paint and powdercoat.

The frame is stock other than the 2X3 I welded in for the stockfloor, the new 2X2 trans x-member, and the SD notch. I cut up the factory control arms to lay on 22X9.5" wheels, and installed the Cando 6 link with shorter lower bars and I raised the stock gas tank x-member.

All of the air management is new stuff, conti bags, viair compressors, SMC valves. The link, tanks, and some engine parts were powdercoated opal/silver.

I welded up the bodyline with 1/2" strips of 18 gauge steel, and shaved the doors and cab seams the right way, none of that resin/fiberglass stuff. The rear has a grant skin with LED's, and I welded in some SD firewall tubs.

I had to move the battery under the bed and build my own steering shaft with a couple knuckles to have room for the tires and control arms. I even built my own exhaust.

I wound up buying the truck from my customer after he got burnt out on the project and his old lady kept bitching at him to get a house. He actually wound up buying my blue truck and dirtbike from me and we pretty much just called it even.

So as of now I can crank the thing up and cruise around the block, even though it has no glass and about 1/3 of the floor is still missing. I'm really becoming pretty partial to this truck since it's my first stockfloor and complete buildup. I've bagged quite a few trucks in the past but never been this far into one. Well, i hope you guys like the truck, my neighbors and girlfriend sure don't!

but who cares, I love doing this shit!

Not to be a d*ck or anything but from the pics it looks like u mudded over the tack welds on the body line. If so it will crack back out. I would weld her up good and solid first

And here's the semi-finished product sitting in front of my house. I bought the house like 8 months ago and closed in the garage myself so the truck has a new home. I'm still a long way from being done, but in my opinion the hard shit is out of the way and I can work on making the thing look good now.

it sure is nice to be able to crank this thing up and move it around or go up the street. No more needing pushing it in and out!

I hope you guys like the truck! It will be at The Big Show this year, and hopefully get another picture in minitruckin mag like it did a year ago. Too bad it's not close enough to being legal that I can drive it 1 1/2 hours to get there. I guess she'll just have to lay down on the trailer again a few more times.
