factory is typically grounded to the battery as it is THE BEST ground. and normally nothing that is grounded to the battery is too far away from it. so why not.

when you move the battery make sure you upgrade your ground circuit. ground block to body, body to frame, and frame to battery. and do it wherever you can really. you cant have TOO GOOD of a circuit. but of course dont make it look like a spider web in your shit.

cool. ive been hearing mixed reviews about how to properly relocate the battery and still have a correctly wired vehicle. we decided to run ) guage back to the battery for both poss. and ground. a lil confused though...

Tyler. were running all of the factory Poss. wires into a distribution block then from the distribution block out the the battery with 0 guage. did u extend the wires individually or run them like i am? im my mind it seems that i wouldnt have to jump up the size of any of the wires before the distribution block. Correct?

Summit sells a kit for relocating your battery pretty cheap. It has everything you need including a case to put the battery in. I ran my positive from the battery in engine bay to the battery in the bed, grounded to the frame. Alot of people talk about a switch you can get to kill one so your not always using two batteries at the sametime.

The only POS wire I had was the main/ECM lead.

Actually I just remembered the problem with my charging system wasn't that I used a small AWG wire, it was that I pulled power to my main/ECM off the alt, and that doesn't work.

I'm not saying in ALL situations, but MY system needed two large AWG wires-one from the batt to the alt, and one for the main power. Your distribution block should work fine; as long as you have a good sized wire from your alt to your batt. And correct, the 0 AWG wire should be able to supply plenty of current to all your leads. Although I would run a separate lead for your compressors or amps. And if you have both, a second batt or at least a capacitor wouldn't be a bad idea.

Also like Grant said, make sure you re-do your grounds. I used 4 AWG to run 1)block to frame, 2)neg batt post to frame, and 3)frame to body.

Run a o ga. ground from battery to engine, for the best ground.Ran all mine through a distribution block! Read some where that the frame is not a good ground( conductor ) !!
