OK, I am looking for a good daily/family ride.I am wanting to spend cash on it, so it can't be too expensive. I am wanting some type of luxury car maybe. I have narrowed it down to one of 3 cars. Either a late 90's 5 series BMW, 2000-2002 Lincoln LS, or a 2001-2004 Volkswagon Passat. If I get the BMW or the Lincoln, I want a v-8, but I ain't sure about the VW. Anyone got any input on any of these. I got less than 2 weeks to make up my mind.

I am going to say it now, and probably bite my tongue, but whatever I get is going to stay mostly stock with the exception of some wheels, tint, and maybe stereo. This is going to be MY daily and family car, and my little girl's Winnie The Pooh car seat is going to be in the back of it, so it won't be a showpiece, but I want it to be clean.

all the LS is is a jaguar. they ride good, handle excellent and have plenty of power.

the LS in my opinion and i have worked quite a few have way to many problems. they are fun to drive and they are quite fast to be a four door heavy car but i would suggest the bmw or the VW first. much better engineering.

well I'm leaning more towards the Beemer, but the main thing I'm concerned with is the cost of maintnence. but I guess for having a LUXURY car, that's something to expect.

also, debating on the 540i or the 528i

the VW would probably tehe biggest pain in the ass and even more so if you are a DIY'er with service and repair work. The LS is a typical jaguar with almost as many problems. the BMW is a well built car, but just be prepared for the high cost of service such as $85 oil changes and expensive tune-ups from the dealer. remember, synthetic oil aint cheap!

I would go for the VW. What is not to like.

all the reviews that say it's a piece of shit.

With the price of gas, I'd be looking at a 1.8t passat. Plus you can do plenty of stuff to them and keep them as your daily. check out vwvortex or vwfixx and get some oppinions on them.
