i work at a glass shop and it will take acouple of trys to get it right the safty glass on you winshild is curved and when you cut it, it binds up when cutting the plasting strip or using alcohole it can be done though your other options are to find sombody with a watter jet or a fine sand blaster ...just make sure you measure 20 times so you only have to cut one winshild!!

The old hot rodders use to score the glass then pour gas or a flammable liquid over the glass and set it on fire where it was scored then carefully and slowely work the glass back and fourth until it breaks off but even back then it was hard to do and now with the safety glass they say its even more of a pain in the arse!

I run a auto glass business doing installs and custom glass. Its not an easy process and you will more than likely have to buy more than one windshield. Ive been in the business for about 10 years and its very odd that you get it on the first try. First you will score the glass with a glass cutter, then you will so to speak "run the crack",(you will need to flip the glass and repeat the process on the other side.) use a de-natured alcohol over the crack and light on fire. This will soften up the lamanite in between the 2 pieces of glass. Pull the glass apart a little and take a razor blade and cut the lamanite. Once cut then just finish off the edge with a sander. And thats the run through. Hope it was helpful.
