What if I give one away for free? To someone that needs one, that can give their opinion after using it for a while.

we are stock flooring my truck and you are building me a ton of shit anyway! mail it and ill let ya know how it does! plus we have very lenient smog bullshit here. plus i can run it through twice. before and after the new muffler is installed and get you the read outs for comparison!

That looks good though Grip.

I haven't figured out what I could coat the inside with yet.

Seth,I don't know if you want my opinion or not but I think its more valid than your average joes.First off the cosmetics are not much of a concern because you can't see a muffler anyways.Take it from me first hand, people see my stainless mufflers and ask if I could do a steel one cheaper.Second a coating is not needed on a steel muffler,I put a twenty two gauge test on my work truck to gauge how long it would last and its been on there for years.Thats right my twenty two gauge steel muffler last longer than a flowmaster,go figure.A few drain holes and your good.Third, when a engine is running the heat converts humidity into condensation and will rust your steel wool within a few weeks. If you feel the need to pack it use fiberglass.I myself won't use anything but steel and if you look you can find silent chamber designs all over the internet, mostly expired flowmaster patents.I hope this helps.

Thanks Grip. I appreciate it.

What about stainless steel wool though? Thats what I chose to use because stainless doesn't rust. Its more expensive than the normal steel wool, but is it actually different?

If you use stainless wool take tubing and drill holes in it ever few inches.Take a punch and knock the leading edge in like a cheese grader.this will direct sound waves into the wool that you wrap around the tubing. This will keep your back pressure lower.Your best bet is to cut a stock muffler apart and take a look.

why not try some packing out of a motorcycle exhaust, go to a bike shop and the the fmf packing, its like a sheet of stuff, its like $100 buck and does a good job, just stay away from the stringy crap for sure.

I already picked up some muffler packing. Its some crazy looking red stuff. I cut this one open to install it.
