my wife wants a rat rod

My wife wanted me to paint my burban a real deep dark red (almost black), and i was shaking my head before she got the sentence out of her mouth. So she got pissed and said that's why she does'nt listen when i tell her stuff about it, so i said we'll get her something and do it however she wants. Well, i was looking at some old hot rods, and she said she really liked the look of them, so i need help finding an early to mid 30's plymouth, ford, or chevy fairly reasonable, like under $10k. I've seen a couple, but nothing that really blew me away. I'd like it to be at least running and the body look pretty decent, interior is not that big a deal, i can do that stuff. So can yall help me keep an eye out for something like that? I think it'll be badass to see this burban towing a wicked ass rat rod:

friggin sweet! the wifey has converted. i got a buddy that seems to run across weird old shit like that regularly so ill tell him to keep an eye out. maybe not that old, but it wont hurt to keep an eye out anyway. you never know.

Jumbo, advice from experience... get one that runs and is legally drivable and safe. My girl did the same thing and I bought her a 1952 Chevy Dually that needs a complete restore. It has been sitting in my backyard for 2 years. I got a cab in really good shape last week and she has started sanding on it. I would much rather have gotten her something that ran and we could drive even if it looked like ass. I own 8 cars... 3 run. Dont start a junkyard like I am. Good luck with it if you get one!

Joe, i'm definitely switching mirrors, you can have the ovals. I might be keeping the arms, don't know if the new ones will mount up the same or not, but they swap, i'll send you the ovals with the new arms, so i'll let you know when they're liberated.

Gavin, yes, i know, i have 4 vehicles and 2 of them run (the wife's ram she drives, and my vibe i drive for work), an s10 that's been on blocks for almost 2 years, and the burb which i drove 3 times after i drove/towed it home from Utah and is now about 3 hours south of you getting worked on. That's why i asked for one that ran, and why i want one, if it runs, i can do interior stuff and still drive it. So keep an eye out, dudes.

they're aren't "rat rods", they're hot rods. stay away from Ol Skool Rodz magazine for inspiration since that magazine caters to sh!tboxes and junk. pick up Rodders Journal, Rod & Kulture to name a couple of good resources.
