Looks like he is trying to build a straight axle front suspension to me too.

But I think I'm Joel on this one...

It looks like he is going through a lot of trouble to have a lot of problems. There are far better solutions to his problem.

Ed, don't get me wrong, I love straight axle front ends... on the right cars. I'm building one for a project that I doing for myself right now, but a fullsize truck trying to lay 26's isn't the time or place to use one.

Why wouldn't it be able to go up angled entrances? I know lots of guys around here with straight axle rods and all of them go up angled entrances just fine.

How does a ride with a straight rear axle go up angled entrances?(articulation) Same as that front end would do. They are probably going to do a parallel link setup or something, but doing the locator(watts or panhard is going to be a nightmare because of the engine.

Like I said, they're going through a lot of work to have it be a pain in the ass to set up.

If you were to run a parallel setup front facing or rear facing. I can see how you could run the link setup and a locator. One aspect of it I don't see functioning is the steering. Hot rods don't have 12+ inches of travel. Getting a steering system to work and be able to take the abuse of driving it. Not to mention that the wheels are going to be extremely sucked into the fenders. On my truck the camber allows me to tuck the wheels inside the fenders, then when lifted the tire is pushed back out into the fender so it looks descent. Whereas a setup like this doesn't have that advantage. I'm just not seeing the advantage of a setup like this, over a control arm setup. I always try to understand people's reasoning for using a particular setup. All setup's have advantages and disadvantages. I don't really see any advantage with a setup like this in this type of application.

If he used a steering box, crossover steering, instead of a rack and mounted the panhard bar in such a way that it travel the same arc as the steering that might work.
