If you have a big enough air compressor to accomodate it, try an angle grinder with a Roloc head on it. They have Bristle Cone wheels that will take anything off metal and leave the metal almost buffed.



Or switch it out for their sanding discs, anywhere from 120 grit to 36 grit. The heavy duty ons work great for killing welds on thicker metal but still being precise

And you can even use one of the stripper wheels

All heads are quick interchange with the proper head, so the job goes by really fast even if you have to swap out heads every 5 minutes

Just get it blasted, you will spend more than two days to do a inferior job, plus by the time you tried a few different things (there is no fast way to do it by hand) you'll have spent the same amount of coin.

Soda blast it,not sand!!

Pay to have it blasted. Like Guilty said if he's a legit shop having it for a couple days until he can do it isn't that bad. Or you could set up an apointment and wait until that day to drop it off. The time and aggrevation and sand all over isn't worth it.

Thanks for you intrests. i think I will go ahead and take it to him. all in all i work for the same company as the guys father, and if he tries to screw me i'll hound his dad. lol
