i did all of the above lights with clear and only a few drops of toner black.about 4 coats to get the desired look i wanted and then two coats of clear for wet sanding and buffing purposes.

im going to do mine with 4 parts clear, 1 part black toner. do about 2 or 3 coats then clear it. the VHT shit is jsut dark purple candy. just looks black over red.

any pics of them lit up?

If I want the reverse light to stay white do you just tape it off and then remove the tape to do the final clear?

i didn mine on my truck and i just wetsanded them with2k grit paper....and mixed a little black with some clear and sprayed about 8 coats....i used mineral spirits i think it was called to cleane them with

my clear "fake" caddy were i guess illegal so i took some candy red, and well the reverse light still shines clear as day through the red candy so im guessing if you dont lay too many coats of the black tint then the same thing should happen. a female friend of mine was slick and tried to tint her tailights using actual tint, an a for effort but the results looked like shit, and for the half the price she wasted on tint you can buy a can of tinting just for that purpose.

VHT is no longer in business. They were bought out by Dupli Color. They say they have not yet made a comparable product to the Nite Shade paint.

Mine was done with a mix of Black automotive paint and clear!
