hey max i got a 92 s-10 and a 92 isuzu and i wanna unibody one of then but i need to know how to start it off to get the bed and the cab together. if you could post pics i would be greatful.

what is the truck gonna be use for after the unibody? the bed is made seperate from the cab for a reason so it can shift independently if you mate the two together. then it would be a good idea to cut the bed floor out and think of new mounts that are stronger. you wont be hopping the truck? or doing anyting extreme in it? hope not it sucks to see a unibodied truck with a nice crack in the seem.

I do not have any pics because I have not ever attempted one myself and describing how I would start a project like that is not so easy. Mabey someone else has pics of how theirs was done.

Sorry

Check on Ekstensive or Grant Kustoms site. They both have done some that were really nice. Mitches dodge, and the Tahoe chevy truck that were at SEMA and the black 63 chevy Bob built.

good luck finding a build on unibodies, I've only seen the finished products. I would venture to guess that you need to think of the reason a truck is separated at the cab and bed.....the chassis flexes under stress. To prevent damaging your hard work your gonna have to work harder. More cross members on the frame, box in your frame completely, when you join the bed and cab do more than sheet metal so that when there is stress on your new unibody there is as little flex as possible, you are gonna be spending alot of time, hand shaping the filler panels. You could shorten the stance on the whole car to make the cab and bed touch before joining them

also, i would run steel body mounts on the cab. no rubbers. thats how the bed is. elminate the cab movement. might help.

Yes replace all rubber body mounts with solid ones

ONE post left for the month, and here goes..

Where can I find solid mounts for my harley supercrew? We molded just about every seam on the truck, minus door and hood openings and bed to cab,... would it be a good idea to solid mount my entire cab area so for example, the fender to bumper seams don't crack over time or would those areas take an even bigger beating if they can't "give" a little?

Wouldn't it be better to put the bed on body mounts instead of solid mounted so the whole thing is on bushings to the frame, like the body of a Blazer on it's frame?
