check your local scrap yards

Hey just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I have been watching my local scrap yards for awhile. The price of scrap is up so high right now that people are just getting rid of cars and trucks cause they need the money. I went and got 2 upper control arms and a new steering rack for my dakota and i just have to return my old or return in scrap. And I am in need of a bed and they told me 25.00. You never know what you will find. You may beable to buy a project for a little over scrap price.

BULLSHIT, not up here neways... just an hour ago i dropped off a 86 s10, full frame,cab and bed, and they gave me 25 bux for it all!!! over 800 pounds worth... i was pissed....

ITs 10 bux per 100 lbs.here

Couple weeks ago I dropped off 550 pounds and got $75.

Its $8 to $10 bux per 100 lbs here as well.

For a whole car its between 250-350 depending on the size.

$5 per 100lb in Houston

scrap steel is about 175 a ton here right now. however, once the stuff goes through the front gate at the yard, its gone, they will not sell anything
