im also interested in this, got factory power windows in my 94 s10 but only have the two wires coming out of each motor. is there a kit that i can just wire up and be 100% sure it will work?

Here you go you need two relays per window and this is wiring for using the windows w/o the key on. I had do to it to mine b/c I got different door panels. You just use a normal rocker switch like on the switch boxes w/ an up and down. This is the wiring for one side...

Relay1

UP:PIN 87 = Constant 12 Volts ( + ) PIN 87a = GROUNDPIN 30 = BLACK wire from Power Window MotorPIN 85 = Negative Input from UP Pin on SwitchPIN 86 = Constant 12 volt ( + )

Relay 2

DOWN:PIN 87 = Constant 12 Volts ( + ) PIN 87a = GROUNDPIN 30 = BLACK wire from Power Window MotorPIN 85 = Negative Input from DOWN Pin on SwitchPIN 86 = Constant 12 volt ( + )

i tried doin this. i bought two relays from o'reilys cuz i wanna wire up both windows to one switch. so i can go up and down on both windows with just one switch.

but, i couldnt figure it out by what u said. does anyone have an actual wiring diagram

cant ya just ground the motor and use the 2 hots to control it?

it only has 2 wires. he needs to buy teh switches i posted up there, they will fix his problem.

You should be able to figure out what 2LOW4U posted. That's correct and it works! You have to do this also when you hook your power windows up to remote systems.

geeze.

And everything else except this is correct. Its called "rest at ground" where both wires are normally closed to ground and the switch you use needs to open the ground on one wire and apply current. If you dont break the connection to ground first, you will just short out the wire and burn it up. Thats why you need what has been described as "5 wire" switches, which is really just a reference to using all 5 poles on a std bosch automotive relay.

the problem with using one switch to make both windows go is that, unless the gaskets have equal lubrication and the motors wind at exactly the same rate, you will end up with one window slightly up or down and no way to correct it. Here is the meat of that statement again: your windows wont roll down and up at the same rate.

using low current switches attched to high current relays is awesome, you can use little bitty buttons. If you use a "five wire" switch (there could be more wires than five on there, and as few as four), all the current for winding the motor goes through the switch, which is hard on the contacts and thats why people get bad window switches in older cars.

the wiring that 2low4u posted is correct. when the relay is enegergized, 87a and 30 break connection and 87 and 30 are connected, breaking the ground on one motor wire and applying 12v.

ok, here is what i did and i keep on getting a hot ass wire like it is grounding out and starting to melt. but here is what i did.

RELAY #1

*30* UP WIRES ON WINDOW
*87* CONSTANT 12 VOLT
*87A* GROUND STRAIGHT TO BOLT ON SEAT
*85* WIRE TO UP PRONG ON SWITCH
*86* CONSTANT 12 VOLT

RELAY #2

*30* DOWN WIRES ON WINDOW
*87* CONSTANT 12V
*87A* GROUND STRAIGHT TO BOLT ON SEAT
*85* WIRE TO DOWN PRONG ON SWITCH
*86* CONSTANT 12V

**SWITCH**

UP PRONG GOES TO *85* ON RELAY #1

DOWN PRONG GOES TO *85* ON RELAY #2

MIDDLE PRONG IS GROUNDED TO BOLT ON SEAT

that is exactly how i have it wired. it is exactly like he told me to do it but evertime i hit the switch the ground wires get really hot and start to melt/burn. however, if i take the ground lead off of *87A* and then hit the switch, u can hear the relay opening and closing.

this is where im lost at. i read somewhere online that some motors are REVERSE POLARITY. could this be why this is happening? and if so, would the solution be to just run hot wires to where i have the ground wires and run the ground wires to where i have the hot wires?

thanks for all the help guys.
