sponge, flip the upper balljoint to the top of the control arm, aswell as the bottom. You should be able to lay out like that. Or pie cut the control arms if you dont like the look of it. It should lay like that. I was just at a truck that layed on 18's all stock components.

If you have a 215/35/18 you should be able to lay with out flipping balljoints or spindles ( i have done 1 mazda on 225/40/18s, without flipping but I dont remember what I had to do.) , dont notch the control arm, notch the frame above the control arm( close to pivot point) and notch the strut rod bracket slightly to clear strut rod. Flipping the lower ball joint puts the weight of the vehicle on 4 bolts instead of the lower control arm, I dont do it! Lots of people do.

Hey Sponge, I've also seen people totally flip the upper A-arm over for larger rims. If you look at the Maz from DIB that is one of the things they did to lay on 22's.

just flip the upper and lower and pie cut also you will have to cut some of the lower contrl arm out to clear the frame and give the arm clearance to let you lay. you will lay front crossmember so you will also have to fix that. oh yea you comin to the visions show again? your isuzu is sick goodjob man..why dont you just ask shawn for help. he built a nice truck

Hey Seth. I know that being out of toyotas and under a Mazda is a little out of your element, like I am not under a Zu, butI cant tell in that pic, but is the upper ball joint aqlso mounted on the top of the upper control arm?

Sorry I missed this. Yes it was on top of the arm. Thats how it was when I got it, not sure if its stock that way or not.

stock is underneath on the mazda upper.

figured id add this in here would flipping the ball joint on a 3" drop lower control arm make a difference to the offset or alignment like the drop spindles? or would you even have to flip the ball joint? never had a mazda with drop control arms til now lol

I dont know why people say it, but flipping the upper ball joint does nothing for getting you lower.

pretty sure it's more of a geometry thing.

ohhhhh yes it does, but dub is right too. flipping the upper reduces the angle of the upper arm when laid out, correcting camber but more importantly keeping the upper balljoint from binding. In cases where you cant lay out because you are binding the upper balljoint, flipping it WILL let you get lower. Its not free though, the extra you gain in drop is subtracted from your highest lift.
