If wanting to keep the truck 6 lug, look at:
ford courier/Mazda b2000 pre 86
Datsun/Nissan 620 or 720 rears would probably work.
Toyota 4x4 pre 89/90, whenever they changed body styles.
Maybe an older Pup or Chevy LUV.
84 or 85 and down plymouth arrows/mitsubishi pickups.

I am not sure what width you are looking for, but the courier swaps are good for a few inches on a post 86 mazda. If wanting to go 5 lug, I think the toyota 2wd is really the only rear. Unless you want to pull the axles and have them redrilled.

Best bet, got to a junkyard with a tape measure and a buddy. check all the small truck rears available and go from there. Remember that you will need to get the matching driveshaft yoke for whatever rear you chose, and have a driveshaft made.

thanks man for all your help but i have another question about the same topic one of my buddies has a rear-end on his 94 isuzu pick-up and they changed the rear-end on his truck but he was telling me that his brakes were real sensative that he has to put a porportion valve which i guess that will help the braking in the rear alot better whats your opinion on this one i hope you can help me out on this man . thanks...

oh ya i measured the datsun rear-end and its about 2 inches shorter on both sides then my isuzu rear my truck is bodied and i really want to lay bodied on some 20's (who doesnt) but the brakes is now what im worried about

Did your friend swap out to disk brakes? Like swapping in a rodeo rear?

Disc brakes will require a new Prop valve, but you should be fine if you stick to drums( or at least I would think so ).

You might have to adapt the rear brake lines for the new rear to hook up.

Be sure to check the gear ratio on the older Datsun rear ends- my 521 (and most early 620s, I believe) came with a 4.38 rear end ratio, which will have you spinning like crazy on the freeway!
The third member from 68-72 Datsun 510 WAGONS (not sedans!) may be used for a 3.90 ratio, but you'll have to swap the end gears so the axle shafts will match... a bit of work, but well worth it!
Good luck!

I HEAR A 84 OR 85 AXLE IS SHORTER THAN THE 90'S TOYOTAS. BUT THATS WHAT I HEARD.

Wow, listen to Phil on the gear ratio thing. I completely forgot about that. I was simply thinking of widths because of your question.

And Seabass, I think you are right about Yota rears. I think it is 88 and down. I really don't remember wich year the body style changed, but the mid 80's are narrower than the later models.
