Hello Max,

This is Aaron, you send me a set of your dropped spindles for my Armada a few months back. Anyhow, I pulled out the IRS and replacing it with a Chevy solid axle and I'd like to incorporate a watts link into my rear suspension design. I drew up a quick watts link below and had a few general questions:

-Does the length of each bar (A & B) need to be the same?
-Do you set it up so that at ride height bar #1 and bar #2 are parallel to one another?
-Does distance 'C' and distance 'D' need to be the same?

If there are any other areas you think I should know about I'd love to you to fill me in on that as well.

Thanks again Max,
Aaron

This is all assuming half travel, NOT ride height.

A & B should be the same length.

Both bars should be parallel to each other.

In order for the bars to be parallel, both C & D will need to be equal.

The one thing that I see missed most often is that the actual center pivot should not be perpendicular to the bars A & B at half travel, but actually over center. It's hard to explain without a bunch of drawings, but only at 1/4 and 3/4 travel will the center pivot be perpendicular to the ground. At full bump and full droop the pivot will be pulled to the furthest extreme (counter clockwise in your diagram) and at half travel it will be to it's furthest extreme (clockwise).

I hope that makes sense.

Click this link and zoom in. There are some rough drawings of how i set a watts link up, but its pretty much how Max said to do it.

The gif that DroptSdime posted is neat-o... but wrong. The link never goes past perpendicular at any point, but the pics that SHIFTBOY linked to is perfect!

Can't get the kit anymore but thats a watt's in action. The bars were the same length and it stayed centered throughout its range. It use the KP 7 link setup.
