I was thinking about buying this truck, the guy told me it has a SALVAGE TITLE do to the frame work that was done to it,Its bagged, body dropped, back halfed, Is this true?

It has a salvage title because it was wrecked before and cost more to fix then half its book value so they totaled it. It probably needed a frame or the frame was bent thats why he is saying that.

check it out. take some measurements. if it all seems good, its probably fine. they usually go through a thorough state patrol inspection before a title is given back to a totaled vehicle.

ya it has to go threw a state inspection before it is ok to drive. so the truck should be ok!

ya but still that means it was a wrecked vehicle ive owned a salvaged title vehicle and it never drove perfect. i had adjustable control arms for the camber and the side it was hit on was to the max and still ate tires it all depends on the reapirs and how bad it was but a wrecked car is never the same

YOUR BEST BET -- RUN A CARFAX -- IT WILL TELL YOU ITS BEEN IN A ACCIDENT --- JUST DO A GREAT INSPECTION -- ASK THE GUY WHERE IT WAS HIT --- IF HES NOT HONEST WITH YOU AND UPFRONT -- THEN THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE --- IF HES HONEST -- TEST DRIVE IT --- DO YOUR INSPECTION AND MAKE YOURSELF A GREAT DEAL --- GOOD LUCK !!!

I think the worst thing about salvaged vehicals is their alingment is almost always off. and after you get them alinged it only seems to last a few months before its off again.

My wifes car has a rebulit which means t was preavious salvage title she has drove it 2 years no problems if there put back right nthere no problem it still has the same tire with 20000 miles on them no abnormal wear if you want to be sure take to frame tech let measure it out it will cost you a little its hard to small teaks

The statements that a wrecked car is never the same, are only half right, yes it was wrecked so it cant ever be the same but, if repaired right it will drive the same or better, if it drives like crap then it wasnt done right, you can fix just about any thing it just depends on how much money you want to put in it to have it done right. I have fixed some hard hits and they all come out fine but they are not half assed fixed. and if the car has a slavaged title you should be able to call the state and give them the title number and they should be able to give you some more info on why it is, carfax will only tell you when the title was recored as salvaged. and from working in a body shop i know that we dont report to carfax and most insurance companys dont either.

i own and run a salvage yard and ive been in wrecks. my 78 lwb was rear ended and all it needed was a bed and a back bumper but the frame was perfect and they wanted to total it because the damage was more than the cost of the vehicle by the blue book. yes that truck could have been destroyed and fixed but like tim said carfax it. and ive seen some insurance places make a truck totaled due to the frame being cut if it was in a fender bender, but have fun getting it legal and shit i know texas is a bitch to deal with when you try and get a salavage titled car and put it back on the street they kinda frown on it
