Chops saws really aren't that pricy. Hell, go get one at HF when the go on sale they're probably less than $50 and if it blows up they give you a new one.

I bought mine from HF and it was only $29.99 and have been using it for like 3 years or so. No problems at all.

why dont you just rent one from a tool supply shop if you cant afford to buy one.

hell it probably cost more to rent one, than go buy one.

I bought two different ones from Harbor Freight and they both sucked...ate up the gears in the cheaper one after cutting about five pieces of flat steel, and the other made really rough uneven cuts....a Hitachi from Lowe's is only $50 higher than the Harbor Freight junk..thats what I've got...I love it

Ive got a question.
Why dont they make a chop saw like a miter saw? With a miter saw you can just sit your wood on the saw and the MOVE THE BLADE. This would be so much easier than having to make room to mive the stick of metal to what ever angle you want to cut it. Ive always wondered why they dont make a chop saw to where you can move the blade and dont have to slide the metal all over your garage

^ They do. But they are expensive. Check out Baleigh.

you'd still have to clamp it down for most cuts anyways. especially round. wood, it quickly bites in and keeps it from going anywhere. an angle with steel it can try to walk a bit even on normal chop saws. but i get what you're saying. would be cool if setup right.
