There are a lot of educated guesses being made and a few points that are on track.

Metal flexes, period. If it didn't flex, it would break. This why we use an alloy called steel to build frames from. Steel is a mix of mostly Iron (a soft, pliable material that is easy to work with, but lacks stiffness) and a very small amount of carbon (a very hard, stiff material that is brittle). This mix of metals makes for a tough yet easily workable material that is perfect for structures that see multiple stresses over an infinite life cycle.

If you were to take a piece steel tubing, of any type and hold it by its ends in a manner that didn
